Realty Trac released the foreclosure heat map below showing the density of foreclosed homes nationwide in 2008 per capita. Another place where you can find foreclosure heat maps is over at HotPads, unfortunately Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area is not ‘yet??’ part of the map.

These foreclosure heat maps give better transparency to the scope of the foreclosure problem. The map gives a picture of the broad spectrum of the foreclosure density showing how some areas are hit harder than others.

Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area ranked 59th out of 100 metro areas in regards to foreclosure activity, but here you can see how the Twin Cities areas stacks up to other major markets.

If you can’t see the key here is what it means

Percentage of Housing Units with Foreclosure Action

White = 0%

Light Pink = .001 to .9

Dark Pink = 1 to 4

Red = 5 to 9

The Minneapolis/St. Paul area is definitely a part of the foreclosure heat maps over here at HotPads. You just have to zoom in a bit. Here is the link.

Thanks!

@Douglas

Thanks for stopping by. I had to edit the link because it was too long and broke the comment box.

I greatly appreciate you providing better insights about the foreclosure heat map.
Keep up the good work on the data mashup.
