Linkage from the past week:
- If you’ve been following the construction of the world’s tallest building being built in Dubai, it finally opened this past week. The Burj Dhubi or now the new name change Burj Khalifi is up and here are some pics via CNN or CBS.
- This is from a few weeks back but has some valid points about buying a home if not married or engaged from the NYT. I took that route about 5 years ago, but have recently taken the next step.
- When searching for homes, walkability has been a factor for a lot of people. The
Twin Cities real estate search that I have on this site includes an API by Walkscore how walkable a neighborhood is, they even have a iPhone app. Here’s an article from NYT factoring in walkability when it comes to home value. - I haven’t thought this far out but some economists have in regards to 2020. Apparently they came up with a list of the richest cities in the world by that time. FYI Minneapolis comes in at 37, kind of surprising.
- Check out this mortgage payment that was missed – $16 million skipped on a New York City housing complex.
- I’d live in it

My first thought on your mention of WalkScore was ” Uh oh…This sounds fairly similar to Redlining and thus discriminatory.” I looked into it a little further and according to their site: “There are a number of factors that contribute to walkability that are not part of our algorithm: one of them : Safety from crime and crashes: How much crime is in the neighborhood? How many traffic accidents are there? Are streets well-lit…etc.”
I still think they might give a false pretense to their site and might have some future litigation on their hands…
Just my 2 pennies…
