The Stevens Square neighborhood was designated by the city of Minneapolis as a historic district in 1989. It is composed of mostly old brownstones surrounding it’s epicenter Stevens Square Park; which hold a number of events and special park movie screenings throughout the summer. The surrounding brownstones have changed very little since they were built and bring a very historic charm to the neighborhood, many of the buildings have been deemed historic landmarks. Stevens Square has provided residents who either work or want to be close to downtown with affordable housing options for quite sometime. Recent years have brought a number of new construction condos to the area. Stevens Square is a neighborhood on the rise.
