New Vikings Stadium Deal Near Metrodome Almost Inked

The city of Minneapolis has moved another step closer in securing the Minnesota Vikings to be apart of the Minneapolis landscape for the foreseeable future.   The Star Tribune has reported that a stadium deal is imminent.  When the deal is struck it will still need to be passed by the Minneapolis City Council and the Legislature, who seem not very keen on the idea of spending hundreds of millions of dollars on the project.   There is also the issue of how it will be financed.  A few proposals out there are a electronic pulltab tax, taxes gained from the Minneapolis Convention Center, and the building of a Twin Cities area casino.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.  With all the new development possibilities of the Downtown East neighborhoods it could have a large impact on the real estate in the area.  This is something to keep an eye on.
